Word of Wisdom

Acts 6:3,101 Corinthians 2:6-1312:8

What gifts do you take care of?

Which gifts have you been given by the Spirit to bless and empower the body of Christ with?

Living in the gifts should not only be done in unity but it should further bring unity

Spiritual gifts without the fruit of the Spirit are dangerous as there is no spiritual maturity and it will manifest

E.g. If I have the gift of prophecy, or word of wisdom, or word of knowledge without love or self-control, I may choose not to share that which has been revealed to me if it is something  that will benefit someone in a way that I feel I should have or am entitled to instead. I could allow envy, jealousy or bitterness or even fear to hold back that which the Lord wants to bless someone with. I could hinder someone’s breakthrough.

I will speak in tongues and it won’t edify anyone, not even me, as it’s not coming from a true heart

I may prophe (lie)

I may only evangelise to people who I like or who are like me

I may teach only on the things that I think people need to know

I may use the gift of healing only for personal gain and to manipulate people

I may only want to serve and offer pastoral care to those who I like

When you are operating in the gifts correctly, you show maturity in Christ, and it is all about God’s will, not ours. We see and experience true transformation through the gifts.

Understanding what you have and who has given it will fuel the way in which you take care of it and use it

Every gift you receive must be utilised responsibly.

Ultimately, gifts of the Spirit are to make us fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.

We should desire prophecy over all gifts

Relationship with God is the centre and purpose of the gifts.
